What did they lose? The Silver Crown

History;

Once upon a time, in a country called Kalria, there lived a king and a queen. One joyful night, the Queen bore a son. He was to be called Draven, for his mother's deceased brother who she loved very much.
The prince grew to be a happy little boy, well-liked by all who laid eyes on him. However, none were as fond of him as his mother. She spent a lot of time teaching him the things he would need to know about becoming a king someday. Manners, dancing, politics; all of this he learned from her.
He valued his time with his mother very much, and eagerly drank in the information he was given. An inquisitive boy; he was always asking questions.
He would bother the cooks about how the ovens worked, the maids about how long it took them to launder the clothing, the gardeners about which flowers would grow in which temperatures. If they had minded, they never did show any indication. Life was happy in the castle.
Soon, however, Draven's mother became very ill. He stayed by her side as much as he could, and they continued their lessons. On the day that she died, she gave him the one piece of advice he carries with him to this day. "My dear boy. Always remember that you are two people. You are you, and you are a prince. Let them meet, but do not let one overshadow the other."
The entire kingdom fell to mourning. But the one this affected most was the prince. For a boy of merely ten, this was something he couldn't quite grasp. So his father tried to help by making him learn the art of the sword. Draven was taught how to wield a sword, to shoot a bow, and also, to ride. He would go along with the knights on less dangerous missions, and he learned the feel of battle. Between these, his father would drill him in various tactics, and other non-combat strategies. They began to debate, because in his father's eyes, if one could not win a battle of force, then one should try to solve it with a battle of wits!
As he listened to the stories of the knights and the underlings, Draven became interested in how the common folk behaved. They were crude, if the stories and jokes were anything to go by, but then again, who wasn't crude when looking for a bit of a laugh? He decided that he would see for himself.
One evening when he was 16 years old, he saddled his horse for his usual nightly ride, having dressed in plainer clothes, and rode to the nearby towns.
What he saw amazed him. It was like the stories his mother had told him. People were here, working, laughing, playing, without remorse.
He then decided to see where all the excitement was and finally wandered into a tavern. At first, the people were wary of him, but after a few drinks and some conversation, they tolerated him at the very least. He wasn't ever sure if they knew he was the prince or not, but he liked the feeling of going to a place where there was no bowing to him.
So, he decided to go back. Over and over, at least once a month, but no more than once a week.
When his father found out that he had been going to the village, he was furious. He just did not understand why Draven would want to go to the village, and without a GUARD!
Draven tried to explain why, but his father would hear none of it. He got angry, and there was an argument. Draven wanted to go to the town so he could better understand the people he was going to rule over, and perhaps to have some fun with other people that weren't of the castle. He told his father he wanted to be a better king, one that the people loved and respected, not the King of some of the things he had heard in the pub that night.
After much yelling, they finally reached a compromise. Draven would be a good son and attend all of the fancy balls and parties thrown around the country, and maybe he would be allowed to visit the villages.
He continued to visit the village in secret.
He would also attend the soirees to which his father sent him. Nobody could refuse the will of the king. Oh, but if Draven were king! He figured it would be much different. He wanted the crown, but there was nothing he could do except charm the daughters (and sometimes sons who looked like daughters) of the lower-born nobles, and practice riding. Often he would go out with the knights again for more difficult things, but he always returned home to a new ball, all full of girls with whom he would have to dance. He found this life very boring, as nothing could compare to the feeling he would get while drinking bad ale and sharing stories with the locals.
As it turns out, he did not have to live this way for long. His father came down with a n illness when Draven was 23 that all of a sudden left his father unable to leave his bed. the castle physicians could not figure out was was wrong with the poor King, so they tried to treat it as best as they could. the old king still lives, but it is only a matter of time.
Draven has been waiting, even hoping that his father would die. He wanted to be king so badly, to make people happier, and to show his mother that he would never forget what she taught him.

Personality;

's personality adapts to whatever situation he finds himself in. He is a charming person, capable of talking his way through quite a few things. This has saved him from many scrapes, especially when he makes the rounds at the local pubs.
Despite being a charmer, he really is suited to run an entire country; he tends to be firm with people, yet kind when it is deserved. It is difficult to anger him, and once he does get suitably angry, it is hard to calm him down. He may even hold a grudge afterward, as he does with his father.
The prince has his passions as well, such as riding. He loves to ride, and sometimes uses that as an excuse to get away from the castle at times to sneak down to the villages.

Appearance;

Draven is tall, with dark hair and eyes. He's about a medium build. He usually dresses in things that are obviously nice, yet comfortable. Unless it is a very fancy and very important occasion, you will not see him wearing anything that is tight around the neck. He cannot stand clothing that is too restrictive, it makes him feel suffocated.
When he walks, he does so with grace. His etiquette tutors would be proud of him. However, he is never as graceful as when he is riding.
